Legare-Gigoux Proposal To The Board of TPMGC

Inasmuch as Claude Gigoux and Roger Legare would like to change the Thursday Tournament rules to make starting times more available to the serious Men's Club members and to reduce slow play, we make the following proposal:

  1. We propose to take over the running of the Thursday Section of the Torrey Pines Men's Club and not share it with Mark Rabwin, or anyone else, on a two month on, two month off basis as is currently done. The reason for this is to make changes/improvements to our current modus operandi in order to eliminate the many late cancellations, no-shows, and slow play that is currently hurting the morale of the Thursday Section players.

  2. We propose that Mark Rabwin retain a starting time for himself and 3 others as long as he plays with them. If for any reason he is unable to play, they would have to compete for times with everyone else.

  3. We make this proposal recognizing the many contributions that Mark has made to bring to Thursday Section to this point. However, we realize that it would be difficult to implement our changes without strongly interfering with the way Mark currently goes about running the tournaments during his tenure. In addition, our changes would be ineffective if they lacked continuity.

  4. We would like to make the available starting times more accessible to the serious Thursday Men's Club members. This would be done by discouraging the dilettantes who currently sign up for Tournaments and either do not show up or cancel too late for replacements to be made. We would accept cancellations as late as 9:00 PM on Tuesday night. Cancellations made between then and Wednesday noon would be accepted, except that all such cancellations would result in the removal of the member's name from the next entry chit submitted. The no-show who didn't bother to cancel would be removed from the next two entry chits. We also want to identify slow players and limit them to the later starting times so there is not as much pressure on them to hurry their play. These changes cannot be accomplished on a two month on, two month off basis, especially considering the current lack of communication between Claude and Roger with Mark.
