Thursday Group - NOTICES

20 June 2000-- The Thursday Section of the TPMGC has offered to cooperate with the new marshaling policy at Torrey Pines by providing the marshals with our starting times sheet and encouraging their feedback to identify slow players. The purpose of this reporting is to identify those players who cannot keep up with the group in front of them. These slow players will be assigned later tee times in subsequent tournaments. We realize that not all players within a foursome are slow players, but the faster players have a responsibility to see to it that the foursome keeps up with the group ahead. When that cannot be done, it means the foursome is playing too early in the morning to maintain the pace. Therefore, the solution is to give them a later starting time which usually corresponds with a slower pace. The penalty for these players will be to assign each of them an "Earliest Starting Time" which is ONE HOUR LATER than their starting time when the offense occurred. This penalty will be IN EFFECT FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS. If there are no additional citations for slow play during that period, the restriction will be removed. Selection for the waiting list will NOT count. No excuses will be accepted, so please don't offer any. No-Shows: Everyone who has a starting time and fails to cancel by Wednesday night will be a "no-show" and will be penalized by being cancelled from the next TWO tournaments for which they are selected to play. This new policy will discourage people from signing up their friends without first asking them whether they can play. If you are not sure whether one of your friends can make it two weeks from the sign-up date, enter your chit without his name and then call him up. If he CAN play, you can call 619-276-0607 before Saturday at 10:00am and leave a message adding him to your group. This new policy will give people on the waiting list a better chance to make the field. It will also eliminate the need to think of a great excuse for cancelling at the last minute.
