  • TOURNAMENT ISSUES - POLICY CHANGES AND CLARIFICATIONS ---

    THE FOLLOWING CHANGES WERE APPROVED BY THE BOARD DURING THE MEETING OF MARCH 15, 2005

    9.1

    2. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE PLAYER TO CONTACT THE TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN IF HE HAS AN EXCUSE FOR A CANCELLATION OR IF HE WANTS TO CONTEST A NO-SHOW DESIGNATION.

    3.A NO-SHOW AUTOMATICALLY GOES ON THE PENALTY LIST UNLESS HE CONTACTS THE CHAIRMAN.

    5,6 AND 7. THE TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN'S DECISION ON PENALTY IMPOSITION IS FINAL

    9.2 PENALTIES -- THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MT THURSDAY EVENTS AND REGULAR SWEEPS FOR PURPOSES OF PENALTY ASSESSMENT. PENALTIES SHALL BE ASSESSED FOR NO-SHOWS IN THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE:
    - FIRST PENALTY ---- 5 (FIVE) THURSDAY EVENTS OR 2 (TWO) CONCURRENT SUNDAY EVENTS
    - SECOND PENALTY ---- 10 (TEN) THURSDAY EVENTS OR 4 (FOUR) CONCURRENT SUNDAY EVENTS
    - THIRD PENALTY --- SUSPENSION UNTIL RESOLUTION BY TOURNAMENT CHAIR

    DOUBLE DIP RULE: A PLAYER WHO SIGNED FOR BOTH EVENTS HAS THE RESPONSIBILTY TO CANCEL ONE BEFORE THE DESIGNATED CANCELLATION TIME IF HE IS SELECTED FOR BOTH TOURNAMENTS. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE PENALTY SCHEDULE LISTED IN SECTION 9.2

  • Sunday Tournaments Information --- Tee times for all events will be posted on the TPMGC website. It is each player's responsibility to check the website for his tee time. There will be no other official notification of times. Tournament chairman will operate under the assumption that the players who send in entries will check the website for their tee times. If you sign up as a team please notify your partner(s) you are doing so. Cancellations/withdrawls are the player's responsiblity. For weekend events notification must be given to the event chairman by 6pm the Wednesday preceding the event. Failure to do so will result in the player's check being cashed and placement on the no-show list.

FEBRUARY 2005

  • General Meeting --- The next general meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 16th, 7pm, TP lounge. (It was incorrectly reported as taken place on Tuesday, February 15th.)

  • President's Cup - Entry Fees --- The entry fees for April's (Saturday 16, Sunday 17) tournament is $25. The amount is not listed in the entry form included in the Newsletter recently mailed to the membership.

  • February (Sunday) Tournament Sign-Up --- The sign-up for the February 27th Sunday tournament (Stroke Play, South Course) will take place on Saturday, February 12th, 6am, at the T.P. lounge. If you have any questions, contact tournament chairman Steve Roberts at 858-335-8035, or 76bearsfly@sbcglobal.net.

JANUARY 2005

  • January (Sunday) Moved !! --- The January 30th tournament has been moved from the North course to the South course. The tee times will remain the same (seven-minute intervals, as if it was on the North course). Call Walt (see below) if you have any questions, for cancellations, or to put your name on the waiting list.

  • Sunday Sign-Up for January --- Sign-up for the (Sunday) January 30th tournament will take place this Saturday, January 15th, 6:00am, at the Torrey Pines PARKING LOT. It'll be conducted by Walt Block (858-549-1808). Call Walt if you have any questions.

  • Thursday On-line Sign-up RAW Files --- The raw files showing the list of entries for a specific Thursday tournament are now viewable on line. These are the files that are "collected" by the Thursday tournament organizers to determine tee times. You will be able to verify your entry by just checking the list. The file naming convention is plain to see. The link will take you into a directory with all the files currently open (http://www.golfsd.com/tpmgc/SIGNUP). You'll be able to view each file's contents by just clicking on its name. A link to this directory is available from the club's home page.

  • Club Officers --- In a recent Board meeting, the following members were elected officers for 2005: Art Stromberg, President; Steve Roberts, Vice President; Bill Lovell, Secretary; and Hank Johnson, Treasurer.

  • Next General Meeting --- Since the TP lounge will be closed to the public from January 7th through 24th due to the Buick Invitational, the January General Meeting has been moved to Wednesday, February 16th, 7pm.

  • Tournament Schedule for 2005 --- The only part of the schedule that is final is the January events. The Sunday tournament will take place on the North course on January 30th. Sign-up date and location is still to be determined. As a reminder: the Buick Invitational this year is the week of January 17-23, so the courses will be closed to the public earlier in January in preparation for that event.

    The Thursday tournaments will be on January 6th and 27th, with golf courses yet to be determined. We are still waiting for the 12/7/04 City Council vote on the North course renovation to finalize with the T.P. Tournament Coordination office the 2005 tournament schedule. As you know, the schedule is always TENTATIVE since we try to accomodate the City and other parties to optimize the use of the golf courses ... because we are nice people.
